Training on hazardous waste management held at Mingachevir State University

A training session on “Hazardous Waste Management” was organized at Mingachevir State University in order to ensure environmental safety, promote the principles of sustainable development, and strengthen awareness-raising activities in the field of environmental protection.

At the opening of the event, it was emphasized that proper management of hazardous waste is of particular importance in terms of protecting human health, reducing negative impacts on the environment, and creating a sustainable campus environment. It was noted that modern universities should be distinguished not only by their educational and research activities, but also by the application of ecological responsibility and green management principles.

During the training, participants were provided with detailed information on the types and sources of hazardous waste, as well as the requirements of national legislation and international practices related to its collection, sorting, temporary storage, transportation, and disposal. The rules for proper management of chemicals, expired batteries, electronic waste, fluorescent lamps, and other hazardous waste were also explained.

The training also focused on occupational health and safety measures when handling hazardous waste, rules of conduct in emergency situations, risk assessment, and minimizing the environmental impact of waste.

Held in an interactive format, the event included answers to participants’ questions and discussions on proposals for further improving the hazardous waste management system at the university.
