Department of Foreign Language
The department was established in Mingachevir branch of ATI in 2000. Although the name and composition of the department has changed many times since its establishment, professional staff and educators have been involved to teach foreign (English, German, French, Russian) languagesbetter and improve the quality of teaching.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a decree on July 24, 2015. According to the decree, it is planned to liquidate the Mingachevir, Salyan and Sumgayit branches of the Azerbaijan Teachers’ Institute and make changes to the decree of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 2000, 13, No. 349 “on improving the education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan”.
According to the relevant order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 24.07.2015, Mingachevir State University was established on the basis of Mingachevir Polytechnic Institute. The material-technical base of the Mingachevir branch of the Azerbaijan Teachers’ Institute has been included in the Mingachevir State University. Accordingly, the newly formed Department of foreign languages resumed its activities in September 2016 by the relevant order of the Rector of the University.
During all periods of its activity, the department was guided by the “regulation on the Departments of Higher schools”of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and established its work in accordance with the provisions of this regulation.
Employees of the department try to establish effective work with students. All conditions have been created at the Department for teachers and students to carry out research work, participate in various national and international trainings and develop.
The rich library fund of our university, the literature in the department, the literature of the teachers’ personal library fund are given to the use of students.
The department operates specialties on Bachelor’s degree 050121 Foreign Language Teaching (English) and master’s degree 060103 Foreign Language Teaching (languages) approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated January 12, 2009 No. 08 (taking into account additions and changes).
About the specialty
The department operates the specialties 050103 (By Resolution No. 45 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 11, 2019, the code of the specialty in the Classification of specialties (programs) at the undergraduate (basic (basic higher) medical education) level of higher education has changed to 050121.) Foreign Language Teaching (English language) at the bachelor’s level and 060103 Foreign Language Teaching (English language) at the master’s level, approved by decision No. 08 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated January 12, 2009 (taking into account additions and changes), operate in the department.

Laboratories
In both buildings of the university there are “English language subject cabinets” provided with modern technical and training tools used in the educational process. The cabinets include computer equipment, projectors, a lot of fiction and grammatical literature on the English Language, English Corner, map of Great Britain and the USA, the national anthem of Azerbaijan in English, rules prepared by students on Practical Grammar of the English language, classroom rules in English, etc. and it is equipped with materials of this kind.
Conferences, seminars, round tables
Employees of our department receive certificates by participating in ONLINE conferences, seminars and round tables organized at MSU, Republic and international level. Our employees participate in national and international training seminars and round tables on advanced teaching methods for Masters and bachelors majoring in foreign (English) Language Teaching, features of organization of work with students, ways of mastering the English language, critical thinking, communication skills and other topics.
In addition, the employees of the department registered on the web of science Electronic Search Platform and participated in Clarivate Analytics trainings, “training in organization and methodological support in Distance Education” (31.08.2020) organized by Azerbaijan State University of Economics, “training tactics for listening workshop “organized by ADXD(22.02.2020, 23.02.2020.), International TEFL Training Institute.”Acknowledges the completion of the 8 hour professional teacher development event “(22.02.2020,23.02.2020). They received certificates by participating in online seminars.
Students of the specialty were involved in the work of the student Scientific Society at the University and faculty. The teachers of our department guide the students engaged in research, guide them and give appropriate recommendations. Students studying at Master’s and Bachelor’s level and engaged in scientific research participate in various conferences, their theses are discussed at conferences organized at MSU and at the Republic level.
Projects
Müəllimlərimiz xarici dillərdə vaxtaşırı dərsdənkənar tədbirlər hazırlayır, “Conversation Club” təşkil edirlər və bu yolla tələbələrin şifahi nitqlərini inkişaf etdirməyə səy göstərirlər.
Dahi N.Gəncəvinin 880 illik yubileyinə həsr edilmiş tələbələrimizin ifasında ingilis dilində N.Gəncəvinin həyat və yaradıcılığı, dahi əsərlərindən bəhs edən tədbir keçirdik. Tədbir 3 universitetin Mingəçevir Dövlət Universitetinin Xarici dillər, Sumqayıt Dövlət Universitetinin Xarici dillər, ADPU-nun Şəki filialının Dillər kafedralarının müəllim və tələbələrinin, Pedaqoji fakultələrin dekanlarının iştirakı ilə Zoom platforması üzərindən Oline keçirildi.
Akademik Z.Əliyevanın 98-ci ildönümününü SDU, ADPU-nun Şəki filialının kollektivi və Mingəçevir YAP Qadınlar Şurası sədrinin iştirakı ilə birgə qeyd etdik.
MDU-nun Türkiyənin Qazi Universiteti ilə birgə həyata keçirdiyi tədbirlər çərçivəsində Xarici Dillər kafedrası əməkdaşlarının silsilə tədbirlər planı hazırlanıbdır.
