Healthy Mindset, Sustainable Success: A Training on Psychological Well-Being at Mingachevir State University

At Mingachevir State University, another educational initiative was organized to support students’ personal development, protect emotional health, and strengthen psychological well-being.

The training was organized by the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology within the framework of the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” and implemented in line with the goals of the “Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026.” The event was of particular importance in fostering young people’s sustainable life skills, strengthening a human-centered approach in education, and promoting a culture of well-being.

In her opening remarks, the Senior Lecturer of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, PhD in Pedagogy Konul Jabbarova, emphasized the importance of developing young people’s emotional intelligence in the context of contemporary challenges. She noted that qualities such as healthy thinking, psychological resilience, and social responsibility play a significant role in shaping the younger generation.

The intensive program was conducted in two main panels:

  • Self-awareness and emotional intelligence: Aytac Aliyeva, psychologist at the Goranboy Child and Family Support Center, introduced techniques for revealing inner potential, regulating emotions, managing stress, and applying practical self-support methods in daily life.
  • Combating burnout: Gultekin Knyazova, a young lecturer at MSU’s Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, provided practical advice on maintaining a “work–life balance” in student life and future career building, planning workloads effectively, setting priorities, and developing healthy habits that prevent burnout.

The training was not limited to theoretical knowledge. Students completed practical tasks, took stress tests, and exchanged views with professional psychologists on issues that concerned them. This approach proved beneficial in strengthening students’ self-management skills, increasing psychological literacy, and recognizing risk factors at an early stage.

Students of the “Social-Psychological Services in Education” specialization demonstrated special activity. For these future psychologists, the training also offered an opportunity for professional observation and hands-on experience through real-life scenarios. In addition, Nemet Heybatzade, a student of the “Social Work” specialization, actively participated in the discussions and shared insightful views on young people’s socio-psychological adaptation, support mechanisms in the academic environment, and the effective use of social resources.

Gulnar Mammadova, a lecturer of the department, also attended the event and provided support during the process of completing practical tasks and taking stress tests.

It was emphasized in the conclusion that such awareness-raising initiatives strengthen students’ academic resilience, contribute to the protection of emotional health, create conditions for young people to realize their potential in a healthier and more balanced way, and support their integration into society as more prosperous, confident, and resilient individuals.
