Mingachevir State University hosts event titled “Azerbaijanism: From History to Modernity”

On May 26, 2026, an event titled “Azerbaijanism: From History to Modernity” was held at Mingachevir State University within the framework of a project implemented by the “Dialogue and Development” Public Union (DİNİB) with the financial support of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event commenced with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

Delivering a speech at the event, Chairman of the “Dialogue and Development” Public Union and project manager Chingiz Bayramov highlighted that the ideology of Azerbaijanism serves as a fundamental pillar in preserving national and moral values, strengthening statehood traditions, and ensuring the unity and integrity of society. He noted that Azerbaijanism reflects pride in national identity, commitment to the state, and devotion to national values, while also contributing significantly to the promotion of patriotism among younger generations. During his speech, he particularly emphasized the well-known statement of National Leader Heydar Aliyev: “I have always been proud, and today I am proud that I am Azerbaijani.”

Vice-Rector of Mingachevir State University Natavan Namazova, in her remarks, underlined the importance of promoting national and moral values, patriotism, and statehood traditions among young people. She stressed that such educational initiatives play a significant role in shaping students’ civic consciousness and national identity.

Member of the Board of the “Dialogue and Development” Public Union Anar Asadov also spoke about the importance of the ideology of Azerbaijanism in strengthening national unity and solidarity. He stated that President Ilham Aliyev’s remarks “Karabakh is Azerbaijan!” and “We are a victorious people, a victorious state!” demonstrated Azerbaijan’s power and unity to the entire world.

During the event, students exchanged views on the topic and discussed the contemporary significance of the ideology of Azerbaijanism. Participants also highlighted the upcoming Independence Day as one of the brightest and most honorable pages in Azerbaijan’s history.
