A training session on “Climate Finance and Green Investments” was held at Mingachevir State University. The training was delivered by Aytan Nadirova, a lecturer of the Department of Economics. Within the framework of the session, key issues related to combating climate change and financing sustainable development were extensively discussed.
Participants were provided with comprehensive information on the essence, objectives, and global significance of climate finance. It was noted that climate finance encompasses financial resources allocated to mitigate negative environmental impacts, reduce carbon emissions, and support adaptation measures to climate change. In this context, the important roles of the public sector, private sector, and international organizations were emphasized.
During the training, the concept of green investments was explained, highlighting the importance of investments directed towards environmentally friendly technologies, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure projects. Solar and wind energy initiatives, waste management practices, and “green city” concepts were presented as relevant examples.
In addition, participants were informed about green finance instruments, including green bonds, carbon markets, and sustainable banking mechanisms. The ways to expand investment opportunities through the use of these instruments were also explained.
At the end of the training, discussions were held on the positive impacts of climate finance on the national economy and environmental sustainability, as well as future prospects. The participants’ questions were addressed.
