Conference Dedicated to the Works of Great Azerbaijani Writer, Scholar, and Educator Mir Jalal Pashayev Held at Mingachevir State University

On April 24, 2026, Mingachevir State University organized a scientific-practical conference titled “The Works of Mir Jalal Pashayev: Literary-Aesthetic Thought, National Identity, and Modern Interpretations,” dedicated to the творчество of the great Azerbaijani writer, scholar, and educator Mir Jalal Pashayev, as well as the 118th anniversary of his birth.

The conference was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Mingachevir, with the participation of the university’s academic and teaching staff.

The event began with a one-minute silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, writer Mir Jalal Pashayev, and the martyrs, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

First, a video presentation dedicated to the life and works of Mir Jalal Pashayev was shown.

Opening the conference with an introductory speech, Rector of Mingachevir State University Anar Eminov emphasized the exceptional role of the prominent writer, scholar, and educator Mir Jalal Pashayev in the development of Azerbaijani literature and scientific thought. The rector noted that Pashayev’s multifaceted legacy holds significant importance in preserving national and moral values, shaping literary-aesthetic thinking, and fostering patriotism among younger generations.

Anar Eminov also stated that organizing such scientific-practical conferences is particularly important for increasing interest in the humanities, reanalyzing classical literary heritage through modern scientific approaches, and developing students’ research skills. He further emphasized that the activities carried out at Mingachevir State University to study and promote national literary heritage contribute to enriching the university’s academic and social environment and strengthening academic traditions.

Faculty members of Mingachevir State University delivered presentations on various topics, including:

  • Associate Professor Gunel Yunusova“The Mission of Mir Jalal in the Development of Azerbaijani Literature and Science”

  • Senior Lecturer Saadat Agakishiyeva“The Attitude Toward Teachers in Mir Jalal’s Works”
  • Lecturer Gulay Baghirova“Mir Jalal Pashayev and the National School of Literary Criticism”

During the discussions following the presentations, participants particularly emphasized the continued relevance of Mir Jalal Pashayev’s legacy in modern times and highlighted the importance of promoting this heritage more widely among younger generations. It was noted that the ideas reflected in the writer’s works continue to retain their significance in preserving national identity, maintaining moral values, and supporting the healthy development of society.

The conference continued with interactive discussions and a question-and-answer session, during which the speakers provided detailed responses to participants’ questions.
