On March 4, 2026, a scientific and practical seminar titled “Biodiversity Conservation and the Red Book” was organized at Mingachevir City Secondary School No. 18 with the initiative and participation of Mingachevir State University (MSU). The aim of the event was to enhance students’ environmental literacy, foster a sensitive attitude toward nature, and strengthen evidence-based awareness of how everyday behavior affects the environment.
The seminar featured presentations by Farida Hasanli and Gulgun Israfilova, staff members of MSU’s Department of Physics and Ecology, as well as Fatima Aliyeva, a student of the E24 group studying in the Ecology major. The speakers provided a comprehensive scientific explanation of the role of biodiversity in ecosystem sustainability, the negative impacts of anthropogenic factors on wildlife, mechanisms for protecting rare species, and the criteria for inclusion in the Red Book. They also emphasized the importance of awareness-raising, early-age behavior change, and community-oriented approaches in preventing environmental risks.
The event continued with interactive discussions, during which students’ questions were answered and ideas were exchanged on the topic. The seminar was met with great interest by the school students and made a positive contribution to the development of environmental thinking and a sense of responsibility.
It should be noted that educational initiatives of this kind are of particular importance in terms of turning education into public benefit, integrating environmental knowledge into daily habits, protecting natural resources, and supporting a sustainable living environment for future generations. Within the framework of cooperation with schools, Mingachevir State University consistently continues to share scientific knowledge and promote a culture of environmental responsibility.
