Mingachevir State University (MSU) successfully organized a roundtable on “Integration of Climate Change Topics into Educational Programs.” The event brought together faculty members of the Department of Natural Sciences, students, and representatives from the labor market.
Representatives from the labor market shared their insights and suggestions on the topic. Participants included Mustafa Yakhya oghlu Karimov – Chief Engineer of the Water Canal Department, Ilkin Mammadov – Chief Consultant-Inspector of Mingachevir City RETSI No. 8, Senior Consultant Ulker Pashayeva, and Anar Guliyev – Chairman of the Permanent Commission on “Local Environmental Issues” of Mingachevir City Municipality.
During the event, Vusala Mustafayeva, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Natural Sciences, presented detailed information on integrating the “Climate Change” course into the master’s program curriculum. Subsequently, lecturer Farida Hasanli discussed the integration of climate change topics into the bachelor-level courses “Climate Change and Global Warming” and “General Ecology,” outlining both completed initiatives and planned improvements.
The roundtable continued in a discussion format. Labor market representatives provided recommendations on aligning educational programs with modern requirements, enhancing students’ ecological knowledge and skills, and incorporating practical climate-related knowledge more broadly into the teaching process.
The main goal of the event was to ensure systematic inclusion of climate change topics in higher education programs, strengthen cooperation between educational institutions and the labor market, and contribute to the preparation of future specialists in this field.
