Training on “Soil Resource Monitoring and Protection” Held at Mingachevir Youth House

Gulgun Israfilova, a lecturer at the Department of Physics and Ecology of Mingachevir State University, conducted a training on “Soil Resource Monitoring and Protection” at the Mingachevir Youth House.

The main objective of the training was to scientifically explain the strategic importance of soil resources for ecosystems and society, enhance participants’ skills in assessing the current state of soils, systematically monitoring changes, and planning effective conservation measures.

During the training, the theoretical foundations, objectives, and tasks of soil monitoring were presented, and methods for identifying physical, chemical, and biological changes in soil cover were explained. Participants gained the ability to detect and prevent soil degradation processes such as erosion, salinization, waterlogging, pollution, structural disruption, and fertility loss, based on scientifically grounded measures.

The training also highlighted modern approaches in soil resource management, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing technologies, laboratory analysis methods, and field research techniques. These tools enable effective data analysis and informed decision-making regarding soil management.

Another focus of the training was understanding the principles of sustainable soil management and the connection between soil conservation, food security, biodiversity preservation, and ecological balance. Participants developed a responsible approach, recognizing the ecological, social, and economic value of soil resources.

In conclusion, the training contributed to the development of professional and analytical thinking skills aimed at long-term soil protection, sustainable use, and maintaining healthy soil resources for future generations.
