The Largest Water Research Laboratory in the Region Opened at Mingachevir State University

On March 6, 2026, an event was held at Mingachevir State University to mark the افتتاحی opening of the Regional Water Excellence and Sustainability Laboratory. The event was attended by the University’s Rector, Anar Eminov, members of the academic and administrative staff, and lecturers from the Department of Physics and Ecology.

During the opening ceremony, it was noted that the launch of the new laboratory represents an important step for MSU in terms of the scientific study of water resources, more accurate monitoring of water quality indicators, and the development of practical solutions to water-related issues relevant to the region. Rector Anar Eminov emphasized that the establishment of the laboratory strengthens the university’s research capacity and also creates new opportunities for awareness-raising and applied initiatives related to water security and environmental well-being.

The laboratory has been equipped with modern devices and instruments for conducting water analyses and obtaining various analytical results. In this context, measurement and analysis equipment will be used to determine the physical and chemical parameters of water, including pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, hardness, turbidity, and others, as well as its key constituent elements such as nitrates, phosphates, chlorides, and other indicators. In addition, the necessary laboratory infrastructure has been created for sample collection and preparation, including filtration, storage, and safe handling procedures.

The new laboratory will enable MSU’s faculty members and researchers to conduct more systematic scientific studies on water- and environment-related topics, while also providing students with the opportunity to master relevant specialization courses in a real laboratory setting and develop practical skills. At the same time, one of the laboratory’s main areas of activity will be to expand the possibilities for water-related laboratory research in the region by supporting local needs through scientific measurement and analysis, applying methodological approaches to water quality assessment, and contributing analytical results to practical decision-making.

It should be noted that the Regional Water Excellence and Sustainability Laboratory will serve as a new scientific and applied platform strengthening university–community cooperation in the protection of water quality, the efficient use of resources, the timely identification of environmental risks, and the promotion of sustainable approaches on a scientific basis.
