From Zero Emissions to Sustainable Cities: Awareness Training by an MSU Lecturer within an Exchange Program

Shabnam Islamova, a lecturer at the Department of Physics and Ecology of Mingachevir State University, delivered an awareness-raising training for school students on “Implementation of Zero-Emission Policies at the Urban Level” during her stay in Uzbekistan within the framework of the Orhun Exchange Program.

The main objective of the training was to reduce carbon emissions in urban environments, strengthen ecological sustainability, and foster climate-sensitive thinking among the younger generation. Within the framework of the event, participants were provided with detailed information on the key principles of the zero-emission approach, the role of green solutions in urban planning, and modern trends in the implementation of environmental policies.

During the training, important areas such as energy efficiency, the application of renewable energy sources, reduction of emissions in the transport sector, and the development of green infrastructure were discussed. At the same time, practical measures that can be implemented at the city level, along with international practices, were presented to the participants.

Conducted in an interactive format, the training enabled school students to actively participate, ask questions, and exchange ideas on the importance of environmental responsibility in daily life.

It should be noted that such initiatives carried out by Mingachevir State University within the framework of international programs contribute to shaping ecological awareness among young people, promoting approaches aligned with global challenges, and advancing the values of sustainable development.
