A Center for Sustainable Energy, Waste and Carbon Management has been established at Mingachevir State University

A “Center for Sustainable Energy, Waste and Carbon Management” has been established at Mingachevir State University with the aim of strengthening the green campus approach, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility, and ensuring the more systematic application of sustainable development principles within the university environment.

The decision to establish the center was adopted at the meeting of the Scientific Council of Mingachevir State University held on May 20, 2026. The establishment of the “Center for Sustainable Energy, Waste and Carbon Management” was assessed as an important step toward environmental sustainability and green development.

The newly established center is of particular importance in terms of promoting the efficient use of energy resources, proper waste management, reduction of the carbon footprint, expansion of environmental awareness activities, and the advancement of green thinking within the university. The center’s activities will contribute to the development of sustainable management mechanisms at MSU, the formation of environmentally responsible behavior in the campus environment, and the more active involvement of students in green initiatives.

Within the framework of the center’s activities, it is planned to monitor energy consumption, support initiatives aimed at waste sorting and management, reduce carbon emissions, organize environmental training and awareness-raising events, and encourage students’ participation in sustainability-oriented projects.

It should be noted that in recent years, Mingachevir State University has been consistently implementing activities in the areas of green campus development, sustainability, environmental safety, and social responsibility. The establishment of such a center at the university serves to continue these efforts on an institutional basis, promote the responsible use of resources, and further strengthen the culture of environmental management.
