On June 12, 2026, a conference dedicated to June 15 – National Salvation Day was held in Mingachevir under the title “National Leader Heydar Aliyev is the Architect of Our National Salvation.” The event was jointly organized by the Mingachevir City Executive Authority, the Mingachevir city branch of the New Azerbaijan Party, and Mingachevir State University.

The conference, held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Mingachevir, was attended by the leadership of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority and the Mingachevir city branch of the New Azerbaijan Party, party members, the academic and administrative staff of Mingachevir State University, undergraduate and graduate students, family members of martyrs, war veterans, as well as representatives of the city community.

First, the participants visited the monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev, laid flowers in front of it, and paid deep tribute to the cherished memory of the Great Leader. Later, they viewed an exhibition dedicated to National Salvation Day in the foyer of the Heydar Aliyev Center. The exhibition featured photographs, paintings, exhibits, and handmade works reflecting the rich life and political activity of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as patriotic themes.

The conference began with a minute of silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A video dedicated to the life journey, political activity, and invaluable services of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in protecting and strengthening Azerbaijani statehood was then screened.

Opening the conference with an introductory speech, Head of the Mingachevir City Executive Authority Ilham Ismayilov emphasized the exceptional significance of National Salvation Day in the history of Azerbaijan. He stated that the return of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to power in June 1993, upon the insistent demand of the people, saved the country from the threat of fragmentation, chaos, and civil confrontation, and created a solid political foundation for the preservation and future development of independent Azerbaijani statehood. Ilham Ismayilov noted that June 15, 1993, became not only the beginning of the salvation of the Azerbaijani people and statehood, but also a symbol of national solidarity, trust in the state, and stable development.

Following the opening speech, Ilham Ismayilov continued his address on the topic “June 15, 1993 is the beginning of the history of salvation for the Azerbaijani people and statehood.” He highlighted that, under the leadership of the Great Leader, political stability was ensured in the country, independent state institutions were formed, and consistent and purposeful steps were taken to turn Azerbaijan into a reputable state in the international arena.

In accordance with the conference program, reports were then presented.

Bakhtiyar Mustafayev, Chairman of the Mingachevir city branch of the New Azerbaijan Party, delivered a speech on the topic “June 15 – National Salvation Day is the brightest page in the history of our modern statehood.” He stated that the political legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev forms the basis of modern Azerbaijan’s development strategy. He also noted that the activities of the New Azerbaijan Party, based on the ideas of statehood, national solidarity, and people-state unity, are of great importance as a continuation of Heydar Aliyev’s political course.

Rector of Mingachevir State University Anar Eminov, speaking on the topic “National Salvation Day is the foundation of the path leading to the successful future of Azerbaijani education,” stated that June 15 is a historic day when Azerbaijani statehood was saved, national will triumphed, and the permanence of our independence was ensured. The Rector emphasized that science and education occupied a special place in the statehood philosophy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and the idea that “Education is the future of the nation” became one of the main directions of independent Azerbaijan’s development strategy. Anar Eminov noted that Mingachevir State University, remaining faithful to this legacy, defines the upbringing of knowledgeable and patriotic young people committed to national values as one of its main goals.

Mayil Ismayilov, Head of the Mingachevir city representative office of the Western Azerbaijan Community, delivered a speech on the topic “National Leader Heydar Aliyev is the founder of our National Development Strategy.” He stated that Heydar Aliyev’s legacy is not limited only to political stability and state-building, but also carries great value in terms of national identity, the ideology of Azerbaijanism, historical memory, and national unity. He emphasized that the Great Leader’s idea of Azerbaijanism is a strong ideological foundation that unites our people around a common national ideology.

Shamsinur Huseynova, Chief Physician of the Mingachevir City Neuropsychiatric Diseases Dispensary, delivered a report on the topic “The modern victories of independent Azerbaijan are the successful continuation of the political course founded by the Great Leader.” She noted that the historic achievements gained by modern Azerbaijan, including the restoration of our territorial integrity and sovereignty, are the logical result of the statehood policy founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and resolutely and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

The speeches particularly emphasized that June 15 – National Salvation Day was a turning point in the fate of our people, and that thanks to the saving mission of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s independence was strengthened, statehood was preserved, and the country entered a path of sustainable development.

The conference continued with an artistic program. During the artistic part, a composition was presented by students of Mingachevir State University and schoolchildren, and patriotic musical performances were staged. The literary and artistic composition was received with great interest by the participants and added a special spirit of enthusiasm to the event.

In conclusion, it was noted that National Salvation Day is an everlasting date in the modern history of the Azerbaijani people in terms of protecting independence, statehood, and national solidarity. Today, the political legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev continues to live as an important roadmap in the development of modern Azerbaijan, the strengthening of our state, and the formation of the younger generation in the spirit of national and moral values.
