Internship and Career Department
The Career Development and Internship Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) of Mingachevir State University (hereinafter referred to as MSU) is a structural unit that implements the goals and objectives of MSU in improving the professional training of students and graduates, enhancing their knowledge and skills, ensuring their internships, career development, and employment, as well as increasing the professionalism of MSU’s academic and administrative staff.
The Center operates in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law on Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, decrees and orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, decisions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, regulations of the Ministry of Education, the “Regulation on the Conduct of Internships for Students of Higher (Secondary Specialized) Educational Institutions,” other relevant normative-legal acts of the respective authorities, as well as the Charter of the University, orders and instructions of the rector, and this Regulation.
The Center performs its duties in accordance with the existing legislation in cooperation with MSU’s structural units, state and local self-government bodies, scientific and educational institutions, legal and physical persons, international and non-governmental organizations, based on concluded agreements and contracts.
Work carried out in the department
- Manages processes for students to acquire necessary knowledge and life skills not taught in the curriculum to become highly qualified specialists.
- Assists students in consolidating and deepening their theoretical knowledge, organizing teaching, production, and pre-diploma internships, preparing relevant teaching documents for various specialties, and helping graduates prepare for professional work life, job searches, and successful career building.
- Supports the personal development of students and graduates, enhances their self-presentation skills, professional specialization opportunities, and maintains constant contact with them to provide advice on the labor market situation.
- Establishes cooperation with enterprises, organizations, and entrepreneurs, ensures the signing of contracts to facilitate internships, agrees on internship programs and schedules with them, and informs students and graduates about vacancies in these organizations.
- Provides comprehensive support for graduates to be adequately represented in the labor market according to their specialties.
- Organizes meetings between students and graduates with company managers and specialists, creates a database of these companies, negotiates for students to undergo production internships and for graduates to be employed, and signs protocols of intent.
- Organizes internship trips and excursions to various companies and industrial enterprises.
- Assists students and graduates in preparing professional CVs and motivation letters.
- Informs and directs students and postgraduates to courses at various educational-development centers.
- Creates conditions for increasing the professionalism and personal development of students and graduates.
- Collects necessary information (address, profile, main activity directions, etc.) about partner and other enterprises, international organizations, and foreign (including domestic) institutions cooperating with the university, and creates an automated (electronic) information database about them.
- Regularly organizes events (job fairs, company presentations, career days, round tables, conferences, trainings, etc.) to ensure the employment of graduates, prepares detailed information about these events and job announcements, and communicates this information to students and graduates.
- Organizes meetings between students and successful professionals in science, government, and business (students learn about the life and work experiences of these individuals, become aware of the requirements of the modern business world, and take them as examples).
- Operates in directions determined by the Charter of MSU, agreements it is a party to, and other acts determining its obligations (orders, action plans, etc.).
- Coordinates activities among graduates, creates and coordinates the activities of the Alumni Club.
- Carries out social, cultural, and sports activities to maintain and develop connections between graduates and the university.
- Forms an innovative entrepreneurial culture among students, graduates, and staff.

Charter of the Alumni Association
General Provisions
1.1. The Alumni Association (hereinafter referred to as the “Association”) is a public and social organization established on a voluntary membership basis at the initiative of the graduates of Mingachevir State University (hereinafter referred to as “MSU”) and with the support of the University administration, operating independently.
1.2. The Association is an independent organization contributing to the academic and professional development of the University and, in its activities, is guided by the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law on Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Charter of MSU, and this Charter.
1.3. The Association operates under a democratic governance model based on the principles of equality of members’ rights, transparency, and accountability.
1.4. The Association is not a political entity and does not pursue any political activity. Members of the Association may engage in such activities individually outside the framework of the Association.
1.5. The Association is not a legal entity and is governed by a Board elected by a majority vote of its members.
Objectives and Duties of the Association
2.1. The objectives of the Association are:
2.1.1. To strengthen sustainable networking and academic ties among MSU graduates;
2.1.2. To promote the professional and social development of graduates;
2.1.3. To support young graduates through career support and mentorship programs;
2.1.4. To foster innovative initiatives and entrepreneurial activities among graduates;
2.1.5. To establish and continuously update a graduate database.
2.2. The duties of the Association are:
2.2.1. To support the enhancement of MSU’s reputation and its integration into international higher education networks;
2.2.2. To ensure regular communication between the University and its graduates and expand cooperation;
2.2.3. To create mentorship, internship, and employment opportunities for students and graduates;
2.2.4. To contribute to society by participating in social responsibility projects;
2.2.5. To encourage the involvement of graduates in scientific research activities.
Activities of the Association
3.1. In order to successfully achieve its objectives and fulfill its duties, the Association cooperates with various local and international organizations in accordance with applicable legislation;
3.2. Establishes strategic partnerships with alumni associations of leading higher education institutions in the Republic and worldwide;
3.3. Annually updates the alumni database and monitors their career development;
3.4. Organizes seminars, conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional skills;
3.5. Conducts job fairs, mentorship programs, and career development events for graduates;
3.6. Utilizes donations provided by members, legal and natural persons, and funds obtained from other sources for the maintenance of the Association in accordance with the budget approved by the Board.
Admission to Membership
4.1. All graduates of the University, regardless of the year of graduation or citizenship, are considered eligible for membership in the Association. In exceptional cases, distinguished public, political, and cultural figures of the Republic, as well as any citizen on a voluntary basis, may become members of the Association;
4.2. Membership is granted individually and on a fully voluntary basis;
4.3. Honorary membership of the Association is granted to graduates with special merits and to individuals contributing to the University. The Rector of MSU is an honorary member of the Association by virtue of their position.
Rights and Obligations of Members
5.1. Members have the right to:
5.1.1. Participate in all events of the Association;
5.1.2. Benefit from resources and networking opportunities;
5.1.3. Participate in projects and initiatives;
5.1.4. Withdraw from membership at any time.
5.2. Members are obliged to:
5.2.1. Comply with the requirements of this Charter;
5.2.2. Safeguard the reputation of the Association;
5.2.3. Actively support the activities of the Association;
5.2.4. Contribute to building connections with other graduates.
Governance of the Association
6.1. The supreme governing body of the Association is the General Assembly. Between General Assembly meetings, governance is carried out by the elected Board.
6.2. The General Assembly is convened at least once a year. Extraordinary meetings may be convened by decision of the Board, by more than two-thirds (2/3) of the members, or at the proposal of the Rector. The General Assembly is quorate when more than half of the members are present. Decisions are adopted by a simple majority of those present.
6.3. The Chairperson of the Association presides over the General Assembly. In their absence, this duty is performed by the Deputy Chairperson or one of the Board members.
6.4. The General Assembly approves the Charter of the Association and makes amendments and additions when necessary;
6.5. Elects the members of the Board, the Chairperson, and the Deputy Chairperson;
6.6. Approves the annual activity plan of the Association;
6.7. Decides on the admission to or termination of membership in the Association;
6.8. Approves the report of the Board;
6.9. The Board of the Association consists of 11 members elected by a simple majority vote at the General Assembly for a term of two years. By decision of the General Assembly, one person may be elected Chairperson up to three times.
Dissolution of the Association
7.1. The Association may be dissolved by decision of the General Assembly;
7.2. A decision on dissolution enters into force if supported by two-thirds (2/3) of the members present at the General Assembly;
7.3. The financial activities of the Association are subject to audit by the Rector.
