Workshop and Info Session on Cybersecurity Held at Mingachevir State University

On May 4–5, 2026, a practical workshop and info session on cybersecurity were held at Mingachevir State University with the participation of representatives of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center for students majoring in Information Security.

The event was organized as a continuation of activities carried out within the framework of the “Brain Center” project, in accordance with the cooperation memorandum signed between Mingachevir State University and the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center.

The main purpose of the workshop was to strengthen students’ theoretical knowledge in the fields of information security and cybersecurity through practical skills, as well as to increase their awareness of modern security approaches, penetration testing methods, and real cybersecurity challenges.

The training was conducted by employees of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center, Gulnar Mirhuseynova, Adila Bahmani Aliyeva, and Muzaffar Mikayilov. During the two-day workshop, students were provided with practical information on “Fundamentals of Security” and “Pentest”. The participants were also introduced to key approaches, defense mechanisms, and testing methods used in the field of cybersecurity.

As part of the event, an info session was also organized regarding the 8th wave of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center. During the session, participants were informed in detail about the Center’s educational programs, selection stages, participation opportunities, and professional development prospects in the field of cybersecurity. Students’ questions on the topic were also answered.

It should be noted that, based on the cooperation memorandum signed between Mingachevir State University and the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center, a hybrid teaching process in the field of Information Security has been launched within the “Brain Center” project. As part of the project, the course “Fundamentals of Information Security” was taught in the fall semester, while the course “Fundamentals of Cybersecurity” was delivered in the spring semester.

The program not only provides students with modern knowledge and skills in cybersecurity but also enables them to gain practical experience in real projects. With the support of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center, students will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge in international certification programs such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, Cisco CyberOps, ISC² SSCP, and others, as well as benefit from professional development opportunities.

The project also creates favorable conditions for students to join startups, participate in hackathons and CTF competitions, and play an active role in the development of national cybersecurity products.

Mingachevir State University plans to continue its activities aimed at developing digital skills, strengthening training of specialists in cybersecurity, and equipping students with practical knowledge that meets the modern requirements of the labor market.
