A faculty member and a student of Mingachevir State University gain international experience at Samarkand State University

Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on academic cooperation signed between Mingachevir State University and Samarkand State University, a delegation consisting of one faculty member and one student visited Samarkand from April 20 to 23, 2026.

The delegation included Shabnam Islamova, a lecturer at the Department of Physics and Ecology of Mingachevir State University, and Sabuhi Karimov, a part-time student of the “Organization of Tourism” program at the Lifelong Learning School.

During the visit, Shabnam Islamova delivered a presentation on “The Republic of Azerbaijan and Mingachevir State University” and gave a lecture to university students on “The Importance of Alternative Energy Sources.” Sabuhi Karimov, in turn, presented on “The Development of Tourism Geography in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur” and “Ilham Aliyev’s Tourism Policy in Karabakh,” and also attended classes held at the university.

The delegation was received by the Rector of Samarkand State University, Rustam Khalmuradov. During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening inter-university academic relations and ensuring the continuity of mutual visits.

As part of the visit, the delegation also held meetings with several university officials. The discussions focused on expanding academic and cultural cooperation, as well as exploring opportunities for MDU researchers at the master’s and doctoral levels.

The delegation also participated in international seminars and events organized by the university. At the end of the visit, they were awarded certificates in recognition of their active pedagogical engagement.

During the visit, the representatives became closely acquainted with the international academic environment, including participation in a seminar on “Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing” delivered by Kirsten de Beurs, as well as presentations on grant projects by Chinese researchers.

It should be noted that the visit yielded significant outcomes in terms of expanding academic cooperation, strengthening scientific exchange, and enhancing interregional collaboration.
