Changing Roles and Psychological Transformation in the Family Institution: Panel Discussions Held Within the Framework of a Psychology Conference at Mingachevir State University

On April 24, 2026, panel discussions on the topic “Changing Roles in Family Relationships and Their Consequences” were organized within the framework of the International Conference on “Multidisciplinary Scientific Research in Psychology” held at Mingachevir State University.

The panel was moderated by Elnur Rustamov, Chairman of the Institute of Scientific Research in Psychology. The discussions involved a broad exchange of ideas on the transformations taking place within the family institution in the modern era, changing social roles, and the psychological consequences of these changes.

In his presentation titled “Psychological Transformation of the Family Institution and Changing Social Roles in Modern Society,” Elnur Rustamov highlighted the increasingly dynamic nature of family relationships and drew attention to the influence of individual and social factors on this process.

Professor Elmar Huseynov of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, in his speech titled “Psychological Aspects of Changes Occurring in the Developmental Stages of the Family,” analyzed the psychological changes observed throughout different stages of the family life cycle.

Associate Professor Nurali Chalabiyev, Deputy Director of the Sheki Branch of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, delivered a presentation titled “Globalizing Society and the Family: The Socio-Psychological Nature of Functional and Structural Changes,” where he explained the impact of globalization on the family institution and the relationship models shaped by new social realities.

Ulkar Zalova Nuriyeva, psychologist at the Institute of Scientific Research in Psychology, presented on “Perception of Spouses’ Behavior in Marital Relationships and the Quality of Relationships,” discussing how family communication and mutual understanding affect the quality of relationships.

As part of the panel, discussions were held around the presented topics, and participants’ questions were answered. The discussions once again highlighted the importance of studying family relationships more deeply in the context of contemporary challenges.
