The period of formation and activity of the department
From the first day of the establishment of the Mingachevir branch of the Azerbaijan Teachers Institute, the department has functioned as the Department of “pedagogy and social disciplines” of the branch. In 2012, the department was renamed the Department of “social and natural subjects”.
Taking into account the demand for the pedagogical staff potential of our country, including the region, the department has 050118 “Primary class teaching” and 050120 “Preschool training and education” specialties.
According to the order signed by the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on July 24, 2015, it is planned to liquidate the Mingachevir, Salyan and Sumgayit branches of the Azerbaijan Teachers Institute and make changes to the decree of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 2000, 13, No. 349 “on improving the education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan”.
According to the relevant order of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 24.07.2015, Mingachevir State University was established on the basis of Mingachevir Polytechnic Institute. Accordingly, the reformed Department of “pedagogy and social disciplines” resumed its activities by the corresponding order of the rector of the University. Since September 2016, the department has been re-formed and renamed the Department of “pedagogy and psychology“.
After the establishment of the university, the department was headed by Ph.D. Zeynalov Nizami Dilanchi oglu. Since 2017, the head of the department is Ph.D., associate professor Mammadov Sahib Amirkhan oglu. Currently, there are 3 associate professors, 3 PhDs, 5 head teachers, 9 teachers, and 1 laboratory technician working in the department. 3 of the teachers of the department continue their scientific-research work as doctoral students in different institutes of ANAS.
The general problem of the scientific-research work predicted by the department in 2021-2025 is “Innovative approaches and modern challenges in the education system”
About the specialty
050107 – Brief description of primary school teaching qualification.
The advantage of studying in the specialty of primary school teaching is that you acquire in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to the pedagogy and methodology of primary education. Primary education is the initial stage of general education. The purpose of primary education is to form reading, writing, calculation skills, logical thinking and general literacy in young children. Having mastered the educational program in the specialty of Primary School teaching, the specialist learns to work with younger children and the features of their age psychology. In addition, the primary school teacher teaches young children the initial vital knowledge and skills about people, society and nature, about their interactions. In addition to specialized knowledge, graduates in this specialty also acquire a number of the following general and professional competencies.
-To work together with colleagues in a collective, to be able to make optimal decisions, to master management methods; – Proposing and justifying new ideas;
– Being ready for intercultural dialogue;
– To show initiative in problematic conditions;
– Show tolerance to criticism and self-criticism;
– To know the main problems of the subjects related to the field of professional activity and to be able to apply them in specific conditions;
– To be able to lead certain age groups of children.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in this specialty, you can work in public and private kindergartens, children’s educational centers such as “Kaspi Kids”, “Profi Group”, secondary vocational education institutions (colleges), and after receiving a master’s degree, you can work as a preschool teacher in universities. The normative mastering period of the specialty education program is 4 years.
Qualifications 050118 “Primary school teaching” and 050120 “Preschool training and upbringing” were approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 08 dated on January 12, 2009 (taking into account additions and changes). Mastering the traditional education program is normative for 4 years. The specialty of elementary school teaching and preschool education given to the graduate is the first level of undergraduate higher education. The department prepares 2 majors at the bachelor’s level (050107- Primary school teaching, 050112- Preschool education), 1 specialty at the master’s level (Primary school teaching).
